KŠB Advises ARETE INVEST on the disposal of a logistics parks portfolio

KŠB advised ARETE INVEST’s real-estate fund on one of the largest Czech-Slovak real estate transactions this year.

The transaction involved the sale of a portfolio of 11 logistics and industrial parks in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to Australia-based fund Cromwell. The value of the transaction amounts to EUR 113 million. The buyer acquired a total lease area of over 125 thousand square meters and 140 thousand square meters of land for construction. The transaction is expected to be settled in the first quarter of 2021.

KŠB previously advised the ARETE INVEST Group on establishing the fund, the purchase of individual properties and the development thereof, as well as during financing and refinancing. The transaction was led by partner Jiří Horník with assistance of partner Martin Krejčí, who were further assisted by senior associates Jakub Porod, Josef Kříž and Jaroslav Zahradníček, and junior lawyer Ondřej Siška.

The ARETE INVEST Group is KŠB’s long-standing client and we appreciate that we were able to part of the transaction.

Suburbanization Trends and Sustainable Commuting: Will the Construction Act Amendment Change the Landscape?

The discussion surrounding the current proposal to amend the Construction Act (Parliamentary Print 67) has moved to the committee stage in the Chamber of Deputies following its first reading. The primary declared objective is the acceleration of construction, particularly regarding residential buildings. The shortage of affordable housing remains a pressing issue in major cities, both in the Czech Republic and abroad, giving rise to the pervasive trend of suburbanization. This raises the question: does the proposed amendment truly have the ambition to reverse this trend, and will an increase in housing construction alone suffice?
