Thank You for Supporting the 23rd Annual Charity Concert of Goodwill – Olga Havel Foundation

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our clients, business partners and friends who attended and supported the 23rd Annual Charity Concert of Goodwill held by our law firm on Sunday 26 November in the Church of St. Juda in Prague 1 to raise money for the Goodwill Committee – Olga Havel Foundation. Proceeds from the concert will be used to support the Foundation’s selected projects, such as the “Senior” project, which assists organizations catering to our fellow senior citizens, as well as projects to help children with cerebral palsy and to provide scholarships to help socially disadvantaged children study.

This year’s concert featured excellent performances by Roman Patočka, Jiří Bárta, Jakub Fišer, Helena Jiříkovská, Karel Untermüller et al, and Brixi’s Academic ensemble, which sung a capella. The concert included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Max Bruch’s Octet B major for strings. Pictures from the event are available here.

Suburbanization Trends and Sustainable Commuting: Will the Construction Act Amendment Change the Landscape?

The discussion surrounding the current proposal to amend the Construction Act (Parliamentary Print 67) has moved to the committee stage in the Chamber of Deputies following its first reading. The primary declared objective is the acceleration of construction, particularly regarding residential buildings. The shortage of affordable housing remains a pressing issue in major cities, both in the Czech Republic and abroad, giving rise to the pervasive trend of suburbanization. This raises the question: does the proposed amendment truly have the ambition to reverse this trend, and will an increase in housing construction alone suffice?
