The Commission's new initiatives in sector of air transport

The Commission adopted an "airport package" on 24 January 2007, consisting ofthree key initiatives: a proposal for a directive on airport charges, acommunication on airport capacity, efficiency and safety in Europe and a reporton the implementation of the ground handling directive. The package focuses onthe role of airports in the further development and competitiveness of theEuropean internal aviation market and affects the future of airport regulationin Europe by ensuring regulatory convergence between Member States.
