Supplementary Social Security Agreement between the Czech Republic und USA30/05/14 / cata_tax-news

The Lower House of the Parliament of the Czech Republic is considering in the first reading the Supplementary Agreement amending the Social Security Agreement between the Czech Republic and the USA.

As soon as it takes force and effect, the Social Security Agreement between the Czech Republic and the USA will also cover health insurance. This will stop duplicate payments of such insurance by American citizens who, when seconded to American subsidiaries operating in the Czech Republic, must pay Czech health insurance even though they still participate in the American system.

Even after adopting the Supplementary Agreement, it will still apply that:

- gainfully self-employed individuals and non-active family members will not have automatic access to public health insurance;

- all persons who are not covered by Czech public health insurance will have to fulfill all legal conditions for entry and residence in the Czech Republic, including the conditions for covering the costs of health care in the Czech Republic.
