KSB was established in 1990 immediately after the Velvet Revolution and the enactment of new laws governing the provision of legal services under the Civil Code. The partnership created on 1 July 1990 was called "Kocián Šolc Touška"; the firm's name changed to "Kocián Šolc Balaštík, advocates" (“KSB”) on 18 July 1995. As of 1 January 2012, the partners transformed KSB into a limited liability company “Kocián Šolc Balaštík, advokátní kancelář, s.r.o.”. The partners of KSB are Jiří Balaštík, Jan Dědič, Pavel Dejl, Dagmar Dubecká, Petr Kasík, Alexandr Kocián, Martin Krejčí, Václav Rovenský and Martin Šolc. KSB’s tax department is led by Helena Navrátilová.

KSB quickly developed the capacity to compete with foreign law firms on many diverse business transactions. Today it is one of the leading law firms in the Czech Republic, providing advice and assistance to major international and Czech clients. It combines an in-depth knowledge of Czech law and Czech business environment with a highly professional approach to clients. KSB also advises public authorities and not-for-profit organisations.

KSB has invested heavily in creating teams of experts on divergent areas of the law. As a result, KSB's position on the market for legal and tax services has gone from strength to strength. KSB has almost 70 legal and tax advisers at its principal office in Prague and branches in Karlovy Vary and Ostrava who can provide services in Czech, English or German, Italian, Slovak as well as other languages.

KSB has won many awards in the Czech Republic and abroad, including being named Law Firm of the Year 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 in the Czech Republic by Who’s Who Legal Awards, an award issued by London rating agency Law Business Research, and National Law Firm of the Year 2008 by Chambers Europe Awards. In the first national survey Law Firm of the Year in 2008, organised by ePravo.cz under the professional auspices of the Czech Bar Association, KSB was recognised as the leading firm in the Czech Republic in the area of corporate law. Also in the second year-round of this survey, KSB was awarded as the leading law firm in the Czech Republic in the area of commercial and competition law.
